Mission: A Fresh Start
Location: SDS HQ - Lubbock, Tx.

F.O. Garrett Alder
Commanding Officer | Graveyard 1
&
Pvt. Thomas Wilson
Vehicle Specialist | Wraith-4

ON:
Garrett was just getting ready to leave when he got a notification that their vehicle specialist had been reassigned to Medical after being injured. He sat down and did a quick search through the roster to find anyone who might be able to fill his shoes on the roster. The results were very limited, the only name that popped up was a Pvt. Thomas Wilson. Navy experience, but no spec ops training. Still the other options were all civilian. He sent a quick message to Pvt. Wilson ordering him to his office ASAP.
-
Tom was finishing up doing a little bit of maintenance to one of the SDS flight drone down in the main hangar. He placed his tools back into his toolbox and wiped greasy hands off with a shop rag. My how the mighty have fallen he thought. He was a young man flying off of carrier decks. But now found himself bouncing from civilian job to civilian job trying to find his way again. He was washing his hands when he heard the distinctive chime from his tablet. He picked up the tablet and read the new message in his inbox. It was to report to the field commander's office immediately. "Well I hope he doesn't mind dirty overalls," Tom said as he placed his tablet on top of his toolbox and headed to Alder's office. It didn't take him long for him to reach Alder's office. He straightened up and knocked on the door three times.
-
He’d been review Thomas Wilson’s file. No red flags, but he hadn’t been with the company long enough to really pop off the screen either. Alder would have liked to find an operator, someone who already knew how to handle the field, but they were all in the field at the moment. Still, he knew Navy Aviators would have SERE training, as well as basic weapons training. He also had some experience with maintenance. The ship would be fully staffed with maintenance personnel, but that didn’t help in the field. Having someone who might be able to fix a vehicle on the fly could be a good thing. He was gambling the team would be able to teach him the other skills he needed. This wasn’t the first team member without spec ops training. “ENTER.” Alder barked.
-
Tom entered the office and approached the Commander's desk. He stood at attention and leveled his eyes straight head. "Thomas Wilson reporting as ordered, sir." He said. He hadn't been here long. It hadn't even been a month he thought. It wasn't normal for him to be before Commanding Officer. He was barely a blip on the radar. Just another college skilled grease monkey that knew how to fly.
-
Alder gave him a once over, he’d been doing something maintenance related, he’d been ordered here ASAP and did exactly that. Alder glanced at the clock, he liked when someone was more concerned with the orders than with trying to look good. “Take a seat. How do you like it here in Lubbock?”
-
Tom took a seat. "It is okay, sir." He had not found the time to explore all that much. Hell he had not had a chance to make any friends around here as of yet. He knew there was quite the mix of Special Operations forces around here. But it would be quite the rarity if he ever would deal with them. Or at least that is what he thought anyway.
-
Alder nodded, “I know you haven’t been here long.” he said ending the small talk. I’m having you reassigned to Wraith team. They need a vehicle specialist. I know you don’t have spec ops training, but you have a military background, so that should at least cover the basics. Under the circumstances, I’m afraid this isn’t really an optional assignment. They need someone now. I will say this, if you really don’t like it, as soon as we can find a replacement, we can get you back here.”
-
Wilson nodded. "I understand, sir. When do I ship out?" He asked. He was not expecting to be shipped. He figured he would have stayed in the confines of the main hangar of the SDS main facility. Talk about a quick change of pace.
-
Alder glanced at the clock, “You’ve got 2 hours to pack. You can bring 2 duffle bags, anything else you want, pack it in boxes and mark it ‘ship’ It’ll be forwarded to your next assignment. Your destination, and next assignment are classified, you’ll be briefed more en-route. Be on the rooftop helipad in 2 hours time with your luggage, your destination has a well-stocked armory, but any personal weapons you want to take make sure you pack them. Uniforms and other gear will be provided at your destination. Your team lead will be Col. Margo Vincent. Any questions?”
-
"No, sir." Tom took to his feet. "I understand."
-
“See you up there in 2 hours, Private. Dismissed.”
-
Tom turned and exited the office. He did not have much time to pack. He still needed to get cleaned up as well. He had only enough time for the essentials. Everything else was would be boxed up.
