Sonya Stabler stood outside the club, and looked in past the bouncer. It was a place full of people with wealth, which also typically meant power, especially in a place such as this. Looking at the three of them, they should be able to make contact with their mark with relative ease, and get what they wanted. “I’m ready, how about you two?” she asked, the smile on her face making it seem like she was ready to party on the outside, but they had a job to do.
“I’ve been looking forward to this all day.” Margo grinned. It wasn’t that much of a stretch. She actually did indeed enjoy these types of missions. “This place is hopping.” She said as the door closed behind the bouncer, briefly muffling the loud, thudding bass of the music. “Hopefully we have easy access to the bar.”
Sarah looked herself over, then glanced at the other two with her, and smiled, “I don’t think we’ll have trouble getting anywhere we want to go.” She said with a glint in her eye. She could sense the others were also excited about the mission. “Despite having a rather large budget” she said referring to the mission budget they’d been given, “I doubt we’ll be paying much for drinks tonight either.” She said noticing more than one guy in the line studying them.
“Even better,” Sonya said, grinning. She watched as the bouncer checked their ID’s, then waved them through. When they entered, the sudden onslaught of noise was deafening, but after a few moments, her hearing adjusted. Taking a quick look around, she saw their mark standing at the bar, with 2 or 3 women. She quickly identified at least two bodyguards standing off to the side as well, which was about what they expected. “Looks like the gang's all here,” Sonya said, just loud enough for the other two to hear.
Sarah noticed Sonya checking for bouncers and Sarah did the same. She noticed the same 2 as Sonya had, then spotted 3 more in the crowd, all wearing more party like cloths. It was their movements that gave them away. They were dancing and moving with the crowd, but ensured nobody got to close, they also spent to much time watching the crowd, while constantly glancing back towards their mark. Sarah made a subtle movement towards the ones she’d spotted. “I think we need drinks.” She said glancing towards the bar.
“First rounds on him.” Margo said with the slightest nod towards an obviously tourist guy at the bar who had kept looking in their direction since they’d stepped inside the club. Putting on her flirty smile, she approached the bar, casually and barely brushing his arm with hers as she made her way to the bar top. “Oops, sorry about that.” She said with a giggle and a coy smile.
“Oh, no problem.” The man said with a grin as he made the appearance of moving so she had more room, so she’d slide in closer to him. “It’s pretty crowded in here tonight.” He said, making casual conversation as Margo moved closer so the other two could step up to the bar with her. “Are you all celebrating something?” He continued, having to yell over the increased volume of the music as the DJ started a new, more bass heavy song.
“We’re in town for my cousin’s wedding, so yeah, kinda.” Margo replied as she tried to get the bartender's attention. “What about you?”
“Just vacation. Always wanted to see Mexico. Can I get you ladies a round?” He asked, looking to the other two, before extending his hand to Margo. “I’m Matt by the way.”
“I’m Evelyn.” Margo said with a smile as she shook Matt’s offered hand.
“Sure, that sounds great,” Sonya said, then chimed in. “My name’s Jennifer,” she added with a grin, checking out Matt to keep up appearances. This was a great way to start getting noticed, she thought to herself. Her eyes quickly darted down the bar to their mark, just keeping tabs on him to make sure he did not leave. Looks like he is in for the long haul, Sonya thought to herself.
Sarah shook the offered hand, but purposefully looked more bored, “Hilda.” She said introducing herself. Margo and Sonya were doing a good job of entertaining the man, she was trying to use the situation to draw their marks attention. She’d caught him looking at them at least twice, which didn’t surprise her, they were hard to miss. It amused her in a way, at least 2 of them, probably all three could avoid being seen if they wish, but in this case, the same skills they’d learned to avoid detection were the skills they were also employing to be detected. She glanced over towards their mark and for a brief moment their eyes met. She tried to convey the boredom she was feeling, hoping to plant the seed in their marks mind to come and ‘rescue’ them. As much as she usually enjoyed more expensive drinks, she decided to spare the tourist a bit of pain, “Jack, neat” she said when the bartender looked her way for her order.
Sonya looked at the bartender, and took the amaretto sour she had ordered a moment ago. Taking a drink, she caught the heavy taste of the alcohol. ‘Overpour,’ she thought to herself. She would be sure to drink water after every drink to keep her wits about her. As Matt talked to Margo, Sonya slid to his other side, pretending to listen to his stories and small talk, but the new location let her keep an eye on the body guards.
She favored the Jack neat drink when she was working. It was strong, but she could also nurse it, made it easier to keep from getting drunk. She also knew she could drink three of them inside of an hour before she started getting impaired. That is unless someone slipped her something. Which was why she always kept her drinks in view. If she ever lost site of a drink, she ‘accidentally’ abandoned it. She took her sip, and returned her efforts to being bored.
Sonya took her drink, and went to the dance floor. Might as well get the ‘show’ started. She started dancing alone, and it did not take long for a couple of guys to start dancing with her. She continued taking sips of her drink, and made sure to glance over at their target, trying to draw his interest. While it was also a job, she did enjoy the cat and mouse game.
Sarah noticed Matt watching Sonya as she left to dance, but he seemed to stay by Margo, Sarah wasn’t sure if he was trying to show some commitment to the first of the group to talk to him, or if he was afraid if he went after Sonya, he might lose all three. Didn’t matter to her, she stole a glance at their mark and caught him watching. She pretended to not see his look and let out a sigh. Matt glanced up then smiled at the girl he knew as Evelyn, “It’s funny, I’ve I think I’ve met more Americans in these Mexican clubs than Mexicans.” He said trying to make conversation.
Sonya looked over to their mark, and caught her looking at him. She gave him a flirtatious smile, and made sure she had more seductive dance moves, trying to entice him to join her on the floor. Once she could communicate with him, things would be able to start moving quickly.
Their target leaned over and whispered something to his bodyguard. His bodyguard gave him a nod and responded with something in Spanish, which Sarah was to far away to hear, and his head was tilted away from her so she couldn’t read his lips. The bodyguard made a hand signal towards someone unseen. A few moments later, a man in a nice suit appeared next to them. “Mr. Garcia has invited you and your friends to join him in the VIP lounge.” He said motioning towards the area their target was in. Sarah looked back towards Sonya and Margo, she could tell the invitation wasn’t really optional by the tone of the voice, but that didn’t matter, it was what they were after anyway. “Sorry Matt.” She said as it was made clear he wasn’t invited. She finished her drink, and motioned for another to be delivered to her in the VIP as she followed the man in the suit.
Sonya saw one of the bodyguards move over and talk to Margo and Sarah, and knew that they were ‘on’ so to speak. She moved with the other two, following along. She smiled, and winked to the other two in their party. “VIP huh?” she said, trying to be excited.
